 The 5th District and our country have been through extremely difficult times the past three years. Despite what has been said in Congress, corporate boardrooms, and, sometimes, even the White House, there has been little shared sacrifice during the financial crisis and recession. Most of the pain was inflicted on lower and middle-class individuals and families.
Many people I talk with think this is because elected officials are overly influenced by a few individuals who raise large amounts of money for campaigns. I believe the voters of the 5th District want to end the undue influence of money and make our government more democratic.
So I am running for Congress.
Take the pledge to join me in eliminating the influence of large contributions and in shutting the revolving door between Capitol Hill and high-priced lobbying jobs.
