Global warming has become a highly contentious issue. I believe the evidence is overwhelming that carbon dioxide is changing the climate for the worse. Even if that is shown to be wrong, there is further evidence that the acidification of the oceans poses a serious threat to our food chain.

Our government needs to have a thoughtful and long-range policy to move us away from our dependence on fossil fuels. I support a carbon tax, investment in alternative energy (especially wind and geothermal), and government-funded research that will benefit the environment while reducing our reliance on oil increasingly supplied by unfriendly or unstable foreign countries.
